Inspired by the kinetic artwork known as Zephyrometer in Wellington, New Zealand, Amateur Radio enthusiast Dwayne Sinclair callsign AB6A created an antenna mount and counter weight that can move in 2-axis/360°.
This innovative antenna mount allows for an antenna mast to move with the wind instead of resisting the wind providing resilience to wind gusts that otherwise may damage a static vertical antenna.
The ideal QTH for this antenna mount is a small footprint location that receives light winds most of the time. Dwayne is based in Southern California and his old vertical antenna was a misshapen aluminum mast having suffered the effects of seasonal "Santa Ana" winds and the occasional storm.
